- The average male African elephants weigh up to 6000kg.
- Male Asian elephants on average weigh 4000kg.
- The African Forest elephant is the smallest type of elephant, only weighing up to 2000kg.
- An average baby elephant weighs 100kg.
- Baby elephants are called calves.
- African elephant pregnancies last for 22 months, while Asian elephants are between 18-22 months.
- Just as we can be right-handed or left-handed, elephants have a more dominant tusk.
- African elephants lifespan is about 70 years, Asian elephants lifespan is just 48 years.
